The 2021 Charleston Conference will be held in hybrid model this year, including streamed in-person presentations as well as virtual, hosted sessions. On Wednesday, November 3rd, join CCC for “Progress Through Partnership: The Dolly Parton Rule for Transformative Agreements,” where our panel examines the transformative agreement recently signed by Elsevier and University of California, as an example for future implementations of Open Access publishing agreements.
On November 4th, CCC’s Jamie Carmichael and Chuck Hemenway will participate in “A Close Reading of the Six Most Common Transformative Agreements.” Transformative Agreements require librarians to negotiate and manage elaborate, multi-year contracts that impact budgets, research practices, and faculty expectations. Data collection and analytics are key responsibilities for librarians today as much as content acquisition and catalog management. This session will outline key elements of the six most common Transformative Agreements, together with “breaking news” insights from a study examining the extent of “transformation” seen to date in the research community.
On November 5th, CCC’s Chris Kenneally will moderate a 60-minute “Innovation Session” that will focus on innovative or entrepreneurial thinking in libraries – new ways to solve problems, new technology or existing tech utilized in new ways, etc.
