1: Rammstein Sued for Plagiarism Over ‘Deutschland’ Riff

First off today, Emma Wilkes at NME reports that the German band Rammstein is facing a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by the French group Ninja Cyborg over Rammstein’s 2019 song Deutschland.

The case was filed with the Paris Court of Appeal after a previous claim was thrown out in 2021. According to Ninja Cyborg, Deutschland copied the riffs and other elements from their song The Sunny Road. They claim that some have accused them of being the ones copying Rammstein, even though their song was released previously.

The case is scheduled to be heard by the Intellectual Property Chamber of the Paris Judicial Court in September.

2: Comedian’s Copyright Lawsuit Against Steve Coogan’s Company Baby Cow Heading to Trial

Next up today, Michaela Zee and K.J. Yossman at Variety reports that, in the UK, comedian Harry Deansway copyright infringement case against Steve Coogan and his production company, Baby Cow, is likely heading toward a trial.

Deansway filed the lawsuit last year. He claims that the Baby Cow program Live at the Moth Club is similar to his previous YouTube show Shambles. Baby Cow has repeatedly denied these claims. Deansway, on the other hand, says it was especially hurtful that the theft was carried out by a friend and colleague.

Attempts to reach a settlement between the two sides have failed, and now the case is tentatively set for a trial in October of this year.

3: ACE Targets MagisTV and Other Piracy Apps Through Cloudflare

Finally today, Ernesto Van der Sar at Torrentfreak writes that the anti-piracy group ACE has filed a new round of DMCA subpoenas aiming to reveal the identities of those behind a series of pirate websites.

The subpoenas attempt to compel the content delivery network service Cloudflare to turn over all information related to MagisTV and other pirate websites. The goal is to compel Cloudflare to turn over any information it has about the operators of the services for potential legal action.

MagisTV is by far the biggest name on the list. The service has been in operation since 2019 and is currently the target of another anti-piracy operation in Ecuador.
