Audio Books v. Audio Summaries: Delhi HC and Copyright Implications

Pocket FM alleges that Kuku FM has violated its copyright by providing audio summaries of books to which Pocket FM has exclusive rights to create audiobooks. The matter is still being heard.

This week, publishing start-up Callisto Media announced additional layoffs on the heels of an earlier downsizing in July, according to Andrew Albanese, Publishers Weekly senior writer. “Reports put total job losses at over 300,” he says. In a statement on Monday, Callisto did not identify any specific reasons for the move, although the decline in juvenile nonfiction sales is certainly one reason, Albanese suggests.
