IPKat Book of the Year Awards 2023

It is time to vote for your favourite intellectual property law books of 2023 in the annual IPKat Book of the Year Awards!

The IPKat team continues to read and review as many brilliant IP books as possible, of which there are many, for the Kat community. But there can be only one winner (per category) of this prestigious prize, so vote wisely.

As always, readers can vote for books in five categories: Patents, Copyright (including related rights and performers’ rights), Trade Marks (including Geographical Indications), Designs and Intellectual Property (any book that covers more than one type of IP).

This annual occasion, now in its sixth year, allows the IPKat community to celebrate and congratulate those who have contributed to the IP literature. You can check out the previous nominees and winners here.

How to Vote

Each year, as well as receiving many genuine votes, we sadly also receive a lot of spam and repeated voting. Therefore, to attempt discouraging the repeated voting we have seen in previous years, the voting process has been modified. This year you can vote by sending an email which must include your name and a link to verify who you are (to avoid use of multiple email addresses – we have thought of everything!). This can be a link to your work profile, LinkedIn or other social media page.

Rules of Voting

Only ONE vote per person.

Person must be verified in email with link

The book must have been published in 2023

Votes must be made via email 20yearsofIPKat@gmail.com before 15th January 2024

Template email submission

For ease, readers can copy and paste the following template email:

All comments must be moderated by a member of the IPKat team before they appear on the blog. Comments will not be allowed if the contravene the IPKat policy that readers' comments should not be obscene or defamatory; they should not consist of ad hominem attacks on members of the blog team or other comment-posters and they should make a constructive contribution to the discussion of the post on which they purport to comment.

It is also the IPKat policy that comments should not be made completely anonymously, and users should use a consistent name or pseudonym (which should not itself be defamatory or obscene, or that of another real person), either in the "identity" field, or at the beginning of the comment. Current practice is to, however, allow a limited number of comments that contravene this policy, provided that the comment has a high degree of relevance and the comment chain does not become too difficult to follow.
