Here’s this week’s selection of opportunities and events for the IPKat community!
Two webinars on trade secrets in the EU
On February 8, the European Communities Trademark Association (ECTA) and the Bulgarian Patent Office will jointly host a webinar on the EU Trade Secrets Directive. The event will explore national transpositions and available case-law in Germany, Italy, and Bulgaria. Registration is open here.
Shortly after that, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) will also hold a webinar on trade secrets, focusing on trends in trade secrets’ litigation across the EU. The event will take place on February 27 and the registration is available here.
In-person event on standard essential patents (SEPs) in Turin
The Italian branch of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) is holding a one-day event on SEPs and their upcoming reform. The conference, to be held in Italian, will take place in Turin on February 5. Participation is free, but registration is required here.
Two hybrid events on IP and international dispute resolution
The Singapore’s Intellectual Property Office will conduct two hybrid events on the latest developments in technology and IP dispute resolution. The events will cover topics such as SEPs, crypto and blockchain disputes, among others. The New York edition will take place on February 21, and the Washington edition is planned for February 23. In-person conference on AI and IP in Greater Chicago
On March 28, the Center for Intellectual Property Understanding (CIPU) and Northwestern University will host the 7th IP Awareness Summit 2024. This year’s theme is AI’s impact on creation, innovation, content, IP rights and competition. For more information and registration details, see here.
Awards
Several calls for essay awards are currently ongoing. The ECTA Award is open until February 28, accepting essay submissions from students and professionals. The ATRIP Essay Competition is open until February 15, welcoming papers from scholars no older than 35 years of age. Until March 13, the Spanish Instituto de Autor is awaiting submissions on copyright and related rights, written in Spanish, to the 11th Antonio Delgado Award.
