Fish & Richardson Attorneys Megan Chacon and Crystal Culhane Named 2021 Women of Influence in Law by the San Diego Business Journal

Southern California Principal Megan Chacon and Associate Crystal Culhane, Ph.D., were recognized as 2021 Women of Influence in Law by the San Diego Business Journal. The list honors the top women attorneys in the San Diego area who have made an impact for their clients, their profession, and their community.

Megan Chacon focuses her practice on complex patent litigation across a wide range of technologies. She currently represents Gilead Sciences, one of the largest and most well-known biotechnology companies in the world, in multiple patent litigation matters. In addition, Chacon is known for her mentorship of junior attorneys, including through her involvement in Fish's EMPOWER initiative, which promotes the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in law. Beyond her litigation practice, Chacon serves as pro bono counsel to various organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union San Diego.

Crystal Culhane draws upon her Ph.D. in chemistry from John Hopkins University to help clients ensure their life-saving drugs and inventions go to market. Culhane's work entails counseling on patent prosecution, due diligence, and patentability and freedom-to-operate matters. In addition to her patent work, Culhane leads the San Diego office's U.S. Space & Rocket Center Space Camp scholarship program, which was created to engage underrepresented middle school students in the STEM fields. She also handles pro bono work for San Diego-based Casa Cornelia and the Alliance for Children's Rights.
