PPH, literally the Patent Prosecution Highway, is a procedure to facilitate the prosecutions in a national phase. The prosecutions can be accelerated, based on the allowed claims from the office of first filing. Or for short, by PPH the applicant may use the allowance from one country as the basis for accelerating the prosecutions in another country.

In China’s IP practice a request for PPH would make a significant acceleration on the issue of the first office action. The application may benefit a lot from a request for PPH in terms of shortening and simplifying the prosecution.

The speaker Dr. Eric (Zhiguang) GENG is a patent attorney at Linda Liu & Partners. In this episode, he will share his insights on the request and utilization of the PPH in China’s IP practice, including the timing to file request, the documents to be prepared, relationship between OEE application and CN application, initiative amendments for PPH, etc.
