The copyright for one of the first depictions of Mickey Mouse will expire in 2024. Copyright protection is usually granted for 95 years to works published between 1923 and 1977. If and when the author’s name is shared with the US Copyright Office, the usual term of 70 years following the author’s death then takes effect[3].
