Simply put, copyright and plagiarism are two different things. We saw similar backlashes on DeviantArt and many sites, such as Getty Images, have banned AI artwork for the time being.

However, what may be best for Disney in a court of law could be actively working against them in the court of public opinion.

As such, this creates questions of authorship and plagiarism when an AI work is published but not properly disclosed to be AI-generated.

Why Getty Banned AI Images (For Now)

Yesterday, Getty Images and iStock have announced that they are following in the footsteps of other art sites , including NewGrounds and Inkblot, in banning artwork generated by artificial intelligence (AI) from their service. It’s worth noting that other stock photo agencies, including Shutterstock, currently have no rule against AI artwork.

Artist Scores Win in Banana Wall Art Copyright Suit

A Florida federal judge has given an artist who created a viral installation of a banana taped on a wall a quick win in a suit claiming he plagiarized another piece of fruit-themed artwork, finding that the features in the artwork are not close enough to classify it as a copy.
